High performance cost effective solutions for roads
Ooms PMB was approached by Al Mohannadi for Roads Trading & Contracting W.L.L. (MRTC) in Qatar to explore the possibilities for producing sand-colored asphalt at their plant.
Based on the technical requirements for the asphalt surface layer, Ooms PMB proposed its synthetic clear binder Sealoflex® Color 50-70 as the appropriate binder to withstand the tough climatic conditions in the Middle East.
In cooperation with the client MRTC, a suitable mix design was developed. For the coloured asphalt local limestone aggregate material was used.
The Private Farm colored asphalt project comprises a total of 1900 MT of colored asphalt, based on a 19,000m² sand-colored pavement, a 40mm thick colored wearing course, a 5% binder content of Sealoflex® Color and about 0,1% of color pigment.
The Sealoflex® Color 50-70 was manufactured in Ooms’ production facility in the Netherlands and shipped, together with the ColorFalt pigment pellets, to Qatar. The 140 MT Sealoflex® Color in bulk was delivered in 6 x 20ft flame tube bituboxes.
