Unihorn was appointed to perform the pavement analysis of the maintenance scheme of Runway 07.25 (Length 2,162 m, width 60 m). Ooms Producten was awarded the supply contract for high performance polymer modified bitumen. The work was performed during night in small working windows of 5.44h, after which the runway was opened for traffic again.
Client requirements:
• Design life of 20 years
• Additional requirement reflective cracking:
<1% after 3 years
<15% after 20 years (CDF)
Existing pavement structure:
• Dry Lean concrete (125-160mm)
• PQC slabs (235-280 mm)
• Porous Friction Asphalt Course (240-450mm)
4 options were analyzed:
1. Inlay dept of 50, 100, 120 and 150 mm
2. Conventional Marshall asphalt and polymer modified Sealoflex 5-50 (HT)

The areas outside of the central 21 m section received an inlay of 50 mm Sealoflex SFB 5-50 HT 0/14 Surface Course modified Marshall Asphalt.
