Ooms PMB HK Limited is excited to announce the signing of the 3913 bitumen supply contract with the joint venture Sinohydro Corporation, Power China, and Rock-One Engineering (SPR JV). After contract 3303 (Third Runway and associated works), which was successfully completed by Ooms in August 2022, with contract 3913 we will continue our presence with another 22 months at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
Contract 3913 involves the supply of more than 10.000 MT 60/70 bitumen, and 11.500 MT polymer modified bitumen of the Sealoflex® SFB-5 range, required for the asphalt for the modification works of the midcentre runway and accompanying taxiways.
The polymer modified bitumen are produced at the mobile Sealoflex® PMB production facility at the Chek Lap Kok project site, in close vicinity of the asphalt batching plants of the SPR JV.
The Sealoflex® SFB-5 range of polymer modified bitumen is specifically designed to improve the durability and to increase the availability of asphalt pavements at airports. Asphalt mixtures containing Sealoflex® SFB-5 binder offer high resistance to deformation, rutting and cracking, even under concentrated loads, which is confirmed by laboratory results, and at more than 75 airports around the world.
The unique feature of Sealoflex® JR (Jet-fuel resistant) binders is, that it makes asphalt resistant to fuels such as jet fuel and petrol. This ensures leaking airplane fuels do not damage the asphalt.
